The Baobab (Adansonia digitata) often referred to as the “Tree of Life,” is a huge, long-lived tree that can store thousands of litres of water in its massive trunk. The leaves are compound and palmate, usually with 5 to 7 glossy green leaflets radiating from a central point, like fingers fingers on a hand. The leaves are shed in winter. The tree has beautiful, white pendulous flowers and its nutritious fruit, rich in vitamin C, is widely consumed. In African folklore it’s believed to have magical properties
